This week is the Spring Brimfield Antique Market. This is my personal favorite time to visit. If you haven’t made the trip yet, here are a few of my tips for navigating the market.
ARRIVAL/WHEN TO GO
The earlier in the week you can go, the better. At least this is what my Mum (a longtime Brimfield attendee) swears by. This is when everything is newly displayed and buyers haven’t snatched the best finds. You will also avoid the weekend crowds and you will shop with the true professionals.
DON’T BE AFRAID TO BARTER
Looking for the best time to get a bargain? Go on rainy days or the last days of the market. Vendors are typically trying to pack up and close out their sales. They are willing to work with you on pricing more than other times.
REMEMBER YOU BUDGET
have a rough idea of how much you want to spend
“WHAT IS YOUR BEST PRICE:
Find your own lingo. This is the best way to start the conversation,
Vendors typically prefer cash. I usually arrive with a specific amount in pocket. This helps me stay within budget.
BUY IN BULK
Vendors are more willing to discount
Looking for a few quick options. Here are a handful of my favorite go-to’s while shopping:
Chmura’s Bakery: for a quick pastry and coffee
Tent Food Court: grab a lobster roll, greek wrap, or burger to name a few
Pilgrim Sandwich: for a Thanksgiving inspired turkey sandwich
Goody’s Kettle: for an afternoon snack
